About Us

Although waterskiing began to gain popularity in the 1950s, it was initially considered a recreational activity with relatively few formal competitions. In 1977, the Hong Kong Waterski Association was officially established and became a member of the International Waterski Federation. The association's founding purpose was to promote waterskiing, organize related competitions, and select athletes to represent Hong Kong in international competitions. Since its inception, the association has held international waterskiing competitions annually, as well as Hong Kong-wide and open waterskiing championships, and participated in government-sponsored water sports events. In March 2001, the association was registered as a limited company in Hong Kong. In August 2023, it officially changed its name to Hong Kong, China Waterski Association Limited.
